Scenario
A fictional company has ten equal ownership tokens. It sells eight bookmarks at €2 each and uses €4 of materials. Assume no other costs for this arithmetic exercise. Work out sales and simplified profit. Does a token guarantee its owner a payment?
45-minute flow
5m ask who owns a business with ten equal tokens; 8m model sales €16, cost €4, profit €12 in this one event; 20m teams role-play owners deciding whether to keep, improve or share the €12; 8m explain that owning a share does not guarantee payment or rising value; 4m exit: one ownership sentence.
What pupils do
- Calculate sales.
- Calculate profit under this exercise's assumption that materials are the only cost.
- Does one of ten tokens automatically earn €1.20? Explain why not.
- Name one additional real-world cost or reason a company value might change.
