Help your child become a saver
The calm, no-nagging way to teach saving, with free printables and games. Start with what fits: you, or your child.
Saving is a skill, not a lecture. Kids learn it by seeing money, choosing on purpose and watching a goal get closer. Below is how to make that easy at home. You get a method by age, lines you can actually say, and free printables.
The method, by age
Make it visible
Three jars: Save, Spend, Share. Small amounts, often. Count together. The jar they watch fill up makes saving real.
Pick one goal
Choose one thing worth waiting for. Use a tracker so progress is visible. Celebrate steps, not perfect streaks.
Talk trade-offs
Bigger goals and the why. โIf you buy this now, what do you give up?โ Let your child run the plan themselves.
What to say
Ready-to-say lines for the moment itself.
- โYou've got enough for this now. Do you want to spend it, or save it for your goal?โ
- When they want to spend it all: โIt's your money. What are you saving for again? How close would this get you?โ
- โLet's put the save part somewhere we can both see it.โ
- โWhat changed this week? And what's one small next step?โ
